I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who works with individual adults, couples, children, adolescents, and families. My experience ranges from situational bouts of depression and anxiety to severe mental illness. No matter what the trouble, I focus on the unique person sitting across from me. Generalizations - how best to treat addiction or grief, for example - can be useful, but the key to lasting change is understanding the differences between individuals and their seemingly similar problems.
Anxiety is a fact of life. So are trauma and depression. So are behaviors that bring pain to us and the people we love. There are no generic solutions to problems that are quintessentially human. My specialty, if you want to call it that, is helping you explore your identity and history, your thoughts and feelings, and the place of your difficulties in the overarching context of your life. I know from personal and professional experience that this is the way towards greater freedom and satisfaction.
For a list of the areas in which I have significant experience, check out this blog post. Please poke around my entire website, including my blog, for a sense of who I am, how I think, and what it would be like to work with me. Generally speaking, I think my patients laugh at least as much as they cry.
